tattoo apprenticeship app in progress

I'm excited to announce I'll be applying for tattoo apprenticeships in Fall 2026.

If you know me pretty well and are like, "wait, what??" I totally get it. I also never thought I could be a viable fit in this industry because, uh...I'm just a book nerd with hay allergies and social anxiety.

But I'm doin it, guys!

My favorite art medium is acrylic paint, and that's what most of my portfolio will be composed of — at least until September or so.

Starting with my absolute favorite, le tigre. It shows high contrast and my ability to draw fur, I guess.

It took me a very very long time to complete, and I'm proud of myself for even finishing. It also looks pretty neat.

Once I finished the tiger by grace of the gods, I decided for some reason that I should go bigger.

I don't know why I thought that was a good idea, because I actually probably won't ever finish tigre's cousin, le leopard. She's in a storage until in Phoenix, and and she may never come out because I'm exhausted.

Anywho, there is also some high contrast here, and surely artistically that's a sort of transferable skill, one that would aid me in the realm of art should I someday choose to lay down my paintbrushes and canvas...

...in exchange for sharp bloodsoaked needles and human flesh!

ew! lol

I do lots of sketching too though. My bread and butter has always been good old pen and paper. Then one day I got a bit cocky and upgraded to the unforgiving permanence of ballpoint pen and the ocassional marker.

^ As an editor who accepts and undertakes the copious, cumbersome, unavoidable trial-and-error-filled editorial process that's required to turn manuscripts into books...I don't understand why I'm not terrified of pens. Makes zero sense.

They're permanent and I battled multiple anxiety disorders to reach my thirties. Alas, I count this strange form of delusional confidence as one more transferable (psychological) skill. Amen.

When I'm not drawing sad Jesus lamb cuddles, I'm drawing bunnies.

Per my industry research, this is an example of a "flash tattoo" which is a fun techbro way of saying the design is fully planned, polished, and prepped for beta launch. Just tell us where you want it!

If you're reading this, you're eligible for a FREE bunny flash tattoo. Walk-ins welcome. Lower back or left ass cheek only. Use code CRACK RABBITS to claim.

I've actually designed one real life tattoo before, and I ended up having someone else tattoo it on me. I drew it on paper first, then I drew it in pen on my own self. Is that weird, or just ADHD?

Anyhow, I styled it to match with the aesthetics, content, and placement of the cute fox tattoo on my upper arm.

This resulted in a more cohesive final product. My ADHD self is also quite eager to claim whatever brand of planning and wonky prepwork this constutites as...you guessed it. A probably hopefully transferable skill.

Lovely fox tattoo by Julia, the talented owner of Frisco Tattoo in Boulder, Colorado. Check 'em out.
